Heeeey =D

Hi everybody.

I know it's been a long time since I've posted, but I've been settling into North Carolina and been busier than I have been in a really long time.

Sadly, I haven't done any embroidery, or any form of needle anything, and I probably won't be able to for a while. I had to leave all of my supplies back in Cancun.

But I'll hopefully be able to get new ones!

^_^

P.S.
Now that I'm stateside, I will hopefully soon be able to accept credit/debit card payments on my Etsy store!!

Mega Massive Update

I moved!!!!

I know I haven't been blogging lately (according to my records, I haven't published a "real" post since the end of December), but the reason why is that I was getting ready for a GIGANTIC move!!

Some of you may know that I was living in Cancun, but NOOOW, I'm living in North Carolina!!!

Yaaaaaaaaaay!

^_^

On a side note, when moving from a tropical climate to one that... well, isn't, make sure that you pack lots of heavy socks and wool items--especially if you're off the boat in the middle of the freaking winter.

This morning, I saw a puddle that had been iced over.

O_O

Mind. Blown.

30,000 PAGE VIEWS!

Yeeeeaaaaaaaaahhhh!!!!!!

Epicness.

On another note, I'm considering using cotton for Buttaflies: Part II...
Broader range of colors, more consistent with my other materials... I dunno. Any  opinions out there?

Happy New Year!

It's 2015!

It's hard to believe that yet another year has passed, and while I can't say what this one holds for me or Lace (making) Adventures, I hope it's amazing!

Random

So I found these digital art courses on CG Cookie and I made this:

I thought it was pretty neat ^_^

You can now see it on a new blog I just started:

Artistically Determinatified

(yes, I came up with that title myself)

Stitching Burst

At least, it definitely felt like one. I didn't cover inches worth of pattern, but considering the medium I'm happy I finished one of those little circles before my eyes gave out.

I was originally planning on trying a type of weaving stitch on all the circles except for the corners, but...

let's just say it didn't work out.

On top of that, when I redid the circle with the stranded buttonhole, I had this little thread that kept getting in the way--and of course it ended up as a big thing of fluff that just got everywhere.

On another note, I also worked on the buttonholing.

I feel like it should've been slightly more therapeutic... but at the time I was fighting off a lack of feeling in my caboose for sitting too long, and a tenseness in my back from being hunched over.

-_-

But on the bright side, it's that much closer to being done!

Tattingness...

My last post was about a project that I felt I had neglected... but now I realize that it wasn't the project that I had neglected the most.

For a while now, I've been avoiding my tatting projects.

I don't know why... I guess I just haven't been feeling very tatterly.

-_-

Now that I have that in mind, though, I shall endeavor to change that!

P.S.
This is my 250th post!

Saturday...

After spending approximately an entire week staring at GIMP (photo editing program) and Inkscape (vector image program), trying to make stuff for my Society6 page, I have decided to take today and do a little textile work.

Now, I haven't done any yet... but I'm going to look over my previous posts, see which project needs a little TLC and go from there.

Time will tell if it works.

^_^

P.S. Check out my Society6 page, I've uploaded some of my mom's photos and they look awesome!

P.P.S. What do you think of the new background?

Ideas for the Future?

I was trolling Pinterest (as per usual when my head's a little too active for me to relax) when I came across this pin that caught my eye:

For some reason, the colors stood out to me. I'm thinking of trying them on...a flower...a butterfly?

Not sure yet, but at least I have a color scheme!

What I did over the weekend...

Is it possible to do less than squat?

Sometimes I wonder.

Unfortunately, it's times like this where I wish there was a word for less than squat.

sub-squat?

Sounds about right. So, I did sub-squat.

Mad Push

From this point on, I'm not sure how much work I'll be able to do.

I'm so close to finishing high school, and I'm determined to finish before my birthday.

Alas...

I have to be honest with you guys, lately, I haven't been feeling very "tatty". I'm thinking it might be due to my still, as of yet, lingering frustration with Evelyn's Doily.
I just can't seem to be happy with it.

Anywho, what I have managed to work on makes up for it (at least in my opinion).
I'm taking some time to get it all together in a few posts.

But aside from that, there's not too much. School's starting to catch up with me and I've been having trouble juggling both crafts and notes.

>_<

Decisions...

What to do.... oh, what to do when it's 1 AM and you're not tired?

Honestly.

Butterflies

Lately, I've been thinking a lot about butterflies.

Can't seem to get them out of my head.

Maybe it means another project is on the horizon...

Random but, I think, funny

Entirely out of the blue, but I'm a little tired, so bear with me ^_^

My desk is right next to my bed, and whilst engaging in activities of a textile nature I generally set up a nest of sorts that tends to expand over the hours.

By the end of one of my weekend embroidery stints, this is what stands between me and a decent night's rest:

Talk about the beginnings of creative chaos.

What if I did it again?

I'm sad to say that my excitement over the changes to Evelyn's Doily has sputtered.

I haven't done much since this picture... and again, my problem is with the round before this one.
I just can't seem to get it right and I'm thinking of tearing it out and starting over.

I just don't know...

New background?

So, today I felt like taking my doodling up a notch.

Enter Inkscape.

Inkscape is a program that utilizes vectors vs. pixels and a bunch of other techy stuff that I can't really think of right now because I have a slight cold and I'm just happy that I could think of a word like "utilizes" >_<

Anywho, I came up with this:

Lately, considering that it's essentially spring and all (though you can't really tell here since instead of getting warmer, it only gets hotter), the blog's color scheme might be due for a change.
After flipping through a bunch of color possibilities, this one was one of the more acceptable versions and I figured: hey, it works.

And, despite the pink, I'm seriously considering it as the new background for Lace (making) Adventures!
-Fanfare-
Still not sure yet... I might come up with some more possibilities.

Hmm.
-_-

P.S. I just might add these to the patterns page ^_^

Doodles for future?

I've recently noticed that, as of late, I've been watching a lot of those doodle videos on YouTube.
A whole lot, actually.

Which, in turn, led me to start a little doodleing of my own. I figured it could help with ideas for embroidery/tatting/lace patterns...

We'll see ^_^

Needle Comparison

As you already know, a pack of new needles recently came into my possession.
Lately, though I've been wondering if maybe some of my needles need to be retired.

Let me explain.

Back when I started learning how to make needle lace, I went searching for the pack of thinnest needles I could find and only managed to get my hands on a pack of very thin and long (not to mention flimsy) beading needles.
Aside from that, over the years I've also gotten a pack of golden eye sharps and a pack of "modista" (clothing/fashion sewing-ish) needles.
All of which are your pretty standard sized sewing needles.

Here and now, with the new addition of these tiny size 11 needles from Pony, I thought maybe it might be time to say goodbye to those beading needles.

Here I give you my selection, pre-pony. On the top you have a beading needle, which, as you can kind of see, has regrettably warped. All of the beading needles follow suit, with this one here being one of the better ones.
Beneath that, I have a "modista" needle, and below that a golden-eye sharp.
I would tell you the brands if only I hadn't forgotten them and then gone on and thrown away the packaging! >_<

Now, here we have the Pony on top.
I think it goes without saying that they're relatively microscopic.
The pony's are tiny, and thin, and essentially great!

Still, I ran into a bump. Those flimsy beading needles, though a bit too long and awkward, have a bigger eye than the ponys and are easier to thread...

So now I'm stumped.

School...

I'm almost done with high school--this is essentially epic because I started high school allover again online when I was 16.

I'm sooo close, I can feel it already--so please forgive me for not having posted anything lately!
I have worked on Daisy a little bit, and on the pattern for Evelyn's Doily.
(yes, there's gonna be a pattern O_O)

Aside from that, not much else has happened here on lace (making) adventures...

*sigh*... >_<
